Somerby Park, Gainsborough

A leading Nottinghamshire-based property development, investment and management group has announced the acquisition of 11 acres of commercial development land on Somerby Park in the busy market town of Gainsborough.

Securing the highly  prominent serviced employment Park, Strawsons Property  purchased the land for an undisclosed sum last month amidst plans to develop a number of small, speculative units, as well as providing larger design and builds opportunities for a range of uses

Close to the UK’s largest port, international airports and mainline rail services, as well as direct access to the A631 with links to the A1 and A15, the site is already home to a number of major employers - including Paragon Flexibles, AMP Rose, ICO Polymers UK Limited and Trent Plastics.

Somerby Park also forms part of the ‘invest I Gainsborough’ initiative which is run by West Lindsey District Council, and which includes 20 acres of serviced employment land which makes available financial incentives including rate relief of up to 100%, as well as planning and general business support to companies looking to establish a base in the area.

The site has already been allocated outline planning  permission for business, general industrial, storage or distribution, as well as financial and professional services use.

Adam Jones of Strawsons Property, said: “This is an exciting acquisition for Strawsons Property and is indicative of our ongoing commitment to Gainsborough by  purchasing and developing land which will benefit the local community from an economic perspective – creating employment opportunities throughout from build to beyond.

“The range of businesses already in the area is testimony to the strategic location of Somerby Park, as well as the support on offer to businesses from the local authority and we are  very much looking forward to progressing with our plans for the site.”

Based in Retford, Strawsons Property is a private property development and investment group with more than 50 years’ experience of working closely with local authorities and communities to deliver regeneration schemes which meet local needs and aspirations; spanning office, residential, industrial and mixed-use sectors.

Paul White from Brown & Co, which has been appointed to facilitate the letting of the proposed developments, said: “Gainsborough is the focus of a major growth and investment programme, which will see 4,435 homes developed by 2036, together with commercial development and job creation.

“Somerby Park Enterprise Initiative is part of this programme, led by West Lindsey District Council, and therefore offers businesses an excellent opportunity to benefit from a number of benefits including rate relief of up to 100%, planning and pre-development advice, as well as general support.

“To that end, we anticipate that interest from potential tenants will be extremely high, with many company owners and decision makers looking to take advantage of this offering and the site’s strategic location.”
